Chipotle…and Pasture

Ok, so I tried Chipotle for the first time last week and I gotta tell ya…pretty good stuff.

I know they try to serve fresh, organic and, if possible, pasture fed animals, and you can tell. I had the barbacoa, mmmmmm…barbacoa with salsa (which, surprisingly, I ate. I hate tomato texture). I also shared the chips and roasted chili corn salsa.I gotta tell ya again, MMMMMMMM.

You can check out the website for the menu offerings, cycling info, faqs, etc. at
Don’t forget to stop by the “On the Hill” to read Steve’s letter to Senate.
Now Imagine if we all did one thing that helped to move our farming back to a more eco-health-chemical free- friendly way of doing business. BUY PASTURE FED ONLY.
Share your thoughts on this subject …..MMMMMMMM Chipotle

Wes Anderson, we love you

I have just watched Fantastic Mr. Fox.If you haven’t seen it, you must. It is  very entertaining and I would let my kids see the movie, if I had any. And that’s saying a lot. There are plenty of “kids” movies that I would never let kids see. If I did I would spend weeks trying to explain sex, and bodily functions and what the swear words mean and what exactly the dated and dripping political agenda/message of the studio/director/writer is pertaining too. Not my ideal of proper conversation for an adult after a long drawn out and dumbed down even for kids flick.

But Fantastic Mr. Fox is not like that. You will find yourself drawn in, just as you are with Wes’ other films. Same humor, which is awesome in an animated medium. Wes also makes use and has fun with the idea of the puppets. Very well done. It is not pretentious nor overly sappy (sorry Where the wild things are, a favorite book a disappointing movie). He does not take himself or the story so seriously that it sucks, he just has fun and that translates into you the viewer having fun with him.

Thank you Wes for maintaining your need to deliver a good script.

Simply Art was Simply Great

Simply Art Chicago had their Ribbon cutting tonight with pastries and wine and of course the Mayor of Evanston.

Simply Art Chicago is a great little gallery off the beaten path in Evanston on Dodge and Oakton (behind Elmer’s Water Sports). The beautiful open loft design allows viewers an intimate setting without the feeling of being overwhelmed.

This Month glassed art by Chris Heisinger and wonderfully crafted jewelry by Annette Jackson are featured. And as always Eric Nelson’s photos and speakers can be viewed and purchased.

To view current artists and to learn more check out Simply Art Chicago at

Pumpkin Thumping

Thumping the pumpkin that sits iced on the ledge of my porch made of brick red, concrete and mortar; the flesh of the orange hollow globe, half-frozen, half-liquid and oozing from its growing black sore. From October, it came to its place on the edge, now January it inches more slowly to its death. Carved not a face on its wrinkling flesh but instead left to rot from inside it stands, looking out on the people in the snowy streets, who howl and cry out from over boozed bars to retreat from their lives in which they pretend to lead. I am counting the days when it will release its contents at their feet. Gray, green and moldy with flecks bright blue what a wonderful palette of colors will be spewed. A smile is creeping at the sight I will see, how happy the days of this eventual time.
